Extra Credit: Experimetrix

If you choose to participate in psychology experiments for extra credit, you are strongly urged to do so well before the end of the semester. If you wait until the last 2 or 3 weeks of the semester, there is a good chance that you will not be able to find available experiments to sign up for.

Returning Users:

If you registered last semester, your UserName and Password are still valid.  If you are a New User, follow the instructions at the bottom of this page to register with Experimetrix before attempting to sign-up for experiments.

  1. Go to www.experimetrix.com/jhu and click on sign.up to sign up for experiments.
  2. You can change your password or modify your profile by clicking on log.in from the www.experimetrix.com/jhu page.
  3. Once you have completed your participation in psychology experiments for the semester, you must distribute your research participation credits to the Psychology course(s) you are taking.

    To do this, first
    (a) click on log.in from www.experimetrix.com/jhu
    (b) click on "edit your course selection" to specify all the eligible Psychology courses for which you are currently enrolled.
    (c) click on "assign credits to your courses".  If you do not complete this step by DATE you win not receive proper credit!

  4. Note that in order to earn extra credit for two or more courses, you must complete the sum of the necessary research participation credits specified for each course. In other words, each research participation credit can count toward only one course.

New User:

  1. Go to www.experimetrix.com/jhu using your web browser.
  2. Click on new.user
  3. Enter your name, JCard number (the bold one), and email address to register. Make sure you type your email address accurately!
  • If you have a JHU email address but prefer to use a different email address for notices and reminders, use your JHU address to register; you can specify a secondary email address to which notices and reminders are sent by editing your profile (see step 2 above).
  • If you do not have an email address that ends in "jhu.edu" (e.g., smith@jhu.edu or jones@jhunix.hcf.jhu.edu), then you will need to contact the Webmaster via the link on the webpage to register; send your name, the psychology course(s) in which you are enrolled, social security number and your email address. This is a security precaution to ensure that only JHU students can sign up for experiments.
  1. A password will be e-mailed to you. To activate your account, you must either sign up for an experiment or log in to the system within three days of receiving your password.
