Research Programs:We study mechanisms of behavior, especially cognitive and emotional processes in associative learning. We use a mix of behavioral and neural systems approaches, combining Pavlovian and operant conditioning procedures with neurotoxic lesions, pharmacological interventions, functional circuit mapping using immediate early gene and tract tracing methods, and the study of genetically altered mice. Current research focuses on three areas: Attention in learning and actionClick Here to enter the Attention in learning and action area Representation of events and relations in associative learningClick Here to enter the Representation of events and relations in associative learning area Motivation: learning processes in drive, incentive and desireClick Here to enter the Motivation: learning processes in drive, incentive and desire area We also contribute to the Neurogenetics and Behavior Center.
