Participate
The Egeth lab conducts experiments year-round. Typically, during the Fall and Spring semesters (when classes are in session), we recruit our participants solely from introductory courses in the Psychology and Cognitive Science departments. When classes are not in session (i.e., winter and summer intersessions), we pay volunteers to participate in our experiments.

Additional information about our experiments
To study mechanisms of visual attention and perception, we recruit people to participate in behavioral experiments. Behavioral experiments are simply experiments designed to measure the subjects' responses to certain stimuli. The stimuli we typically use are presented on a computer monitor, and the behavior that we measure is typically the participant's reaction time or accuracy at pressing appropriate buttons on the keyboard. Basically, these experiments are much like simplified video games. Each experimental session usually runs for approximately 35 to 45 minutes, and including the time it takes to fill out consent forms and participant rosters, people are usually in the lab for a bit less than an hour. After the experiments are complete, we offer "debriefing" documents which explain what the experiments were about. We are also happy to answer any questions that participants may have.
