Research: Research: Mechanisms of behavior

I study mechanisms of behavior. My laboratory's major research focus is the study of the functions of amygdalar-cortical circuits in appetitive conditioning of rats and mice. Current topics of investigation include the regulation of attention in learning and action, the role of learning processes in drive, incentive and desire, and the representation of motivational and sensory information in learning. Other projects include the investigation of behavioral mechanisms for hierarchical organization of events in discrimination learning (including "occasion setting"), motivational functions in the organization of behavior, and the representation of temporal information in learning. My laboratory collaborates extensively with Dr. Michela Gallagher's laboratory and the Neurogenetics and Behavior Center.
